Everyone! The workshop is geared for beginners and experienced artists alike. There is no skill threshold required for entry, only a desire to learn.
Do I need to be a DigiPen student to attend?
No, the workshop is being held at their location, but is open for anyone to purchase a ticket.
How long are ticket sales open?
Ticket sales will be open online until September 1st. Tickets will then be available at the door for $550.
Where is a good place to stay while in town for the workshop?
Massive Black is setting up a deal with the Marriott Redmond, and details will soon be coming.
What is the daily schedule for the workshop?
The schedule is in the works. Please check back for updates.
What can I expect at the workshop?
The workshop runs from ~9am-5pm on the 15th & 16th. There will be simultaneous digital demonstrations/ presentations from various artists goin on through out the day. There is also a traditional media area which will hold demonstrations or open figure drawing. You're welcome to stay for the duration of any one demonstration or lecture, or you can move between rooms and check them all out. There will be an hour break for lunch.
What are the details of the included lunch?
For two days of the workshop (15th-16th), lunch will be available at the DigiPen onsite cafeteria. The cost of lunch is provided in your ticket purchase. You are welcome to go off campus and grab lunch off campus if you wish.
Is there parking available at the venue, or will we need to arrange other transportation?
There is a parking lot onsite at the DigiPen campus. Attendees are welcome to drive and park on location.
Refund Policy
Because the workshop date is so close we unfortunately can’t offer a cash refund. However we can offer a swap to another workshop if you find you cant attend this one.
What materials are needed for Shawn Barber's "Painting from Reference"?
Painting Supply List: * Glass turpenoid jar with lid * Portable easel * Palette (wood, glass, or disposable) * Rags or paper towls * Small cup for medium * Painting medium: Galkyd Slow Dry, Liquin, or a fast drying medium * Turpenoid or Gamsol * Assorted brushes: Synthetic and bristle, mostly filberts / a couple of small rounds * 11"x 14" Gessoed panel or canvas
Oil Paints: (preferably Gamblin, Winsor Newton Artist Grade or comparable (not Winton)) * Titanium White * Yellow Ochre * Cadmium Scarlet or Vermillion Red or Cadmium Red Light * Burnt Sienna * Manganese Blue Hue or Ultramarine Blue or Cobalt Blue * Ivory Black (Feel free to bring more colors than this, if you have them)
